Start with a blank page and then find the table option on the menu at the top of the screen. Left Click on it. Left click on insert table. You get a dialogue box - choose 1 row 1 column and 100% width and turn all border settings to 0. This is what you get:

You can stretch the height as you need to. Try it.

This is a table that is 100% of the width of the screen. It will occupy 100% of the width of the screen regardless of the page size or screen resolution.

An alternative is to fix the width at say 900 pixels. That way it will occupy 900 pix no matter what screen resolution people see it in. So anyone with an 800 x 600 screen will have a slider bar at the bottom of the page, anyone with a 1124 x 928 screen will see it occupy part of the screen with blank screen either side.

If you right click on the table above you will get a chance to play with its properties. Suppose you fixed it at 900 px wide, it would look like this:

You will see it also has a border around it - right click inside this table and select table properties, then check them out. You should soon see why  a border has appeared.

I am fixing the table at 900 pixels which is good for most people except those using prehistoric pcs.

OK, that is lesson 1
